Artist Statement
I am fascinated by thresholds—between the seen and unseen, memory and imagination, body and spirit. Collage, which I began exploring about a decade ago, mirrors the fragmented nature of existence—the passage of time and the accumulation of experiences that define us. My works may carry fragments of photographs, flowers, birds, and text: layers of personal and collective memory drawn from my earlier paintings, my photo archive, and family images.
I am drawn to the beauty of sacred art. In 2025, I began to use gold leaf to evoke light through cathedral windows—transient, luminous, and transcendent. Falling leaves often appear as quiet symbols of time’s passing and the approach of our own autumns. I also incorporate tile, glass, and metal to reflect light and create a sense of structure—fragile architectures we build to give life meaning.
My paintings are tributes to impermanence, memory, and the sacredness of being. Through the interplay of the tangible and the symbolic, I invite viewers to look beyond appearances and discover the layered beauty of what lies beneath.
In 2021, I became part of the Niagara on the Lake Arts Collective: a group of professional artists, curators, and galleries. My work is held in private collections in Canada, the US, and Europe.
